Nick and Susie

Nick and Susie, originally uploaded by Monkey Magic.

Nick has left the country. It's the end of an era, he used to live up the road to me but he has gone to live in Jerusalem. Good luck Nick!

So I'm on Tottenham Court Road, framing a shot with my 35mm camera, an Olympus OM-10. I often use old cameras and people are often interested in what they are.

This man came up to me and asked if it was an Olympus, and how much it cost me. i got it on ebay and said 10 or 20 pounds, I can't remember. So he asked if he could buy it off me, and next thing I knew I had a crisp £20 in my wallet and he had my camera.

He then asked me to have a coffee with him and proceeded to tell me more about himself, he is 70, has lived in london for 50 years, and is originally from Northern Cyrpus where it turns out he owns a lot of land.

An interesting encounter.

So I no longer have a 35mm camera, but plenty of film left.

From the archives

Bridal bouquet, originally uploaded by Monkey Magic.

Love this shot. From my cousin Dov and Efrat's wedding in Jerusalem in April. I love peonies and those round half closed ones are perfect and squishy! I also love the bokeh of the 50mm lens and the way it has turned the mother of the bride's necklace into beautiful little round circles.

The Comedy Terrorist

The Comedy Terrorist, originally uploaded by Monkey Magic.

You may remember the story: In 2003, Aaron Barshak broke into Prince William's 21st birthday party at Windsor Castle, dressed as osama Bin Laden.

Anyway these days he's preaching the gospel of Pizza at Oxford Circus and he has the best beard I've ever seen!

I went to see Antony Gormley's "Another Place" on the beach at Crosby, just outside Liverpool. I twas an incredible experience. It is so close to Liverpool docks and Bootle, you can see all the activity going on, but it is totally silent, It's veyr windy so the only sound is the sound of wind in your ears. I was very lucky with the weather, it was a gorgeous clear sky day in Northern England.

Everyone should get there if they can. It's there till the end of November.

Bank Holiday

bankholiday-02, originally uploaded by Monkey Magic.

Haven't blogged in months and months and have plenty to post.

Saw this girl sitting in the laundrette on Belsize Lane. Does Belsize Park need a laundrette? Apparently so.

I asked her if I could take her photo, luckily she said yes. I find these days that I et much better photos of people I ask, I also feel it's polite because I wouldn't want to appear in someone's photos without being asked.
